Please remember that a SEC claimant would qualify under the 250 days test even if the only occasionally went into the area. The days are to be "aggrated" or added together, not consecutive.
Example: a maintence man goes into area 800, (a SEC area) only 3 hours a day. This would add up to
15 hours/1 day a week. In one year, the maintence man had 52 days of exposure. Within five years, the maintence man has met the criteria for the 250 days.
Also note that the definition for a DOE facility includes the 'grounds'; so why wouldn't that definition also include the 'grounds' surrounding the area?

    Donna,
Could you tell me how many days a wk. that the guards work in 1943-44? My dad worked from July 27,1943 to May 18, 1944...somewhere in Oak Ridge,TN. The hearing Representative tells me that is only 213 days.
    Thank You, Wanda

You can "assume" that a guard working from 1943-1944 would work 6 days a week or overtime. The 250 days is based on 8 hour work days. If you figure either by hours or days you would come up with 254 days( 6 day work week) or avg of 65 hour work week would be 42 weeks x 65 hours= 2530 hours. NOTE: 250 8 hour days = 2000 working hours.
